Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash

Biore is a Japanese brand, currently under Kao Corporation which also manages Laurier, Liese (the bubble hair dye~), Curel and many other brands, including Jergens!! I love Jergens' Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer =) Might be doing a review soon on that... I'm not going to delve deep into Kao Corporation's beliefs and values, you guys may read up on it if your're interested.

Kao

Well back to Biore, they carry some interesting products, mostly gotta do with  facial cleansing like facial wash and make-up remover sheets, etc. Quite interested in their make-up remover sheets, have not used make-up remover sheets before...but i'm currently still on my Bifesta Make-up Remover. It's real good with the non-rinse function but i'm lazy...lazy enough to think that digging for cotton wool to pump the make-up remover onto is troublesome. Haha...I suppose make-up remover sheets are meant for lazy people like me, i'll try to get  my hands on it next time ^^. What i'm reviewing today is the Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash~

Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist Facial Wash (dry skin) (Left)
Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash (normal skin) (Right)

I actually bought this quite awhile ago when the hype about it was pretty high, but i guess it got chucked somewhere that the sun don't shine until i unearthed it recently and decided to do a review on it. Got totally sold by the pink and white packaging and not to mention the word 'marshmallow' !! Any girl would be a sucker for sweets and fluff and what not. Well, i bought the refill pack since i have foam dispenser (from Daiso) at home, would not hurt to use it instead. Save the earth~!

The Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash promises deep but gentle cleansing by their ultra fine fluffy foam bubbles which are smaller than your pore size (not sure how true is that ...) and boast that it contains 40% beauty serum for the extra quench to your skin, keeping it moist and supple. Sounds yummy? The next best part is why i'm turning towards foam wash.....instant foam!!! No need for lathering!! Did i mention i was lazy?

My 200ml pink Daiso Foam Dispenser...only SGD2!!

For those who thinks that refill packs are a pain in the ass, fret not, refilling a Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash have never been as easy.... just tear and here comes the part where stuff usually spills here and there but this refill pack has this~!!

Spill-prevention tubing!

After using it, i do not think that 'marshmallow' is right description for it and still dubious about the 40% serum thing works. But the foam is really really soft and enveloping!! I don't know how to describe this but it feels really....addictive? Like you just want to keep puffing these white fluffy foam against your face all day. Do i sound crazy?

After 3-5 pumps....feels like clouds...or what i imagine clouds to be =)

Gravity-defying~ ^^
It isn't like your usual foam wash, where it really easy to wash off. You might have to put a little bit more effort and water to wash the Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash off to get a slight squeaky 'clean' feel (not strong 'squeaky' though). I do feel the skin tightening feeling after i dry my face BUT my skin felt really soft and supple and clean too!! So not really sure about the serum and moisturizing, but you can definitely get this if you are bored of your usual facial cleanser and looking for something novel.

For those with dry skin, there's the Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist Facial Wash, which comes in the yellow/gold pump instead of the normal pink one. Not really sure whether there's much difference between this and the normal one, but no harm getting it since there's no price difference. You can get the bottled Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash at SGD13.90 and the refill at SGD10.90 at the stores.

Thanks for reading and hope this post helps!!

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion and AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash Review

I'm almost done with my current stash of Sulwhasoo Basic Line, been using it for almost 6 months already and i am satisfied with the hydration factor that the Sulwhasoo products brings into my skin. There are certain downsides which made me hunt for other novel products to use.

The Sulwhasoo First Care Serum and Balancing Water was fine until it came to the Balancing Emulsion, its easy to absorb into my skin but somehow it causes oil shine on my face. When i first started on the Balancing Emulsion, the weather before june was bearable, the oil shine wasn't that prominent until june when it gets horridly humid and warm. During June, i usually spend my nights in air-conditioned room, so the oil shines wasn't much of a biggie. But when it comes to day time, applying the Sulwhasoo Basic Line became a chore because i know that i'm going to start having oil shines within the next two hours. My skin has been looking a little dull these days, probably due to the weather and stress, and i wanted to do something about it. Another thing is that my pores, it's huge~ and the Sulwhasoo Basic Line can't really do much about it nor my dull skin.

So i decided to try something new.....

The Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion and the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash were what i got. Hada Labo is a Japanese brand, their products are crazily raved for their moisture locking properties and their minimal and simple beauty routine. Been using it for the past 1 month and was really pleased at the effects that these two products had on my skin.

The Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion is part of the lifting + firming care line or their anti-aging line, i'm in my early 20's...what the heck am i using anti-aging products now?!? Why didnt i use their bestseller (The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion) instead? The answer is....because i'm paranoid....lols...just kidding!! The Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion has three key thing that fits what i want now,  Retinol (Vitamin A), Collagen and Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA). Retinol has several benefits, it exfoliates, treats acne and fine lines as well as known to increase collagen production, what more can i ask? Collagen promotes firmer and more resilient skin and SHA is responsible for replenishing and locking moisture in your skin. For more information on SHA, their website should provide you with all the incredible things that SHA can do.

The AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash was actually something that i got on impulse, i already have cleansers at home and some of them are still pretty full. But none of them can do what AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash does, it contains AHA and BHA which claims to exfoliates, clarify and brighten your skin. This cleanser is quite impressive i think? It left my skin feeling clean and smooth, there was no skin tightening feeling and my pores seemed to be more refined!! Don't know whether is it my imagination or what...but they seem to be smaller ^^

note that sunscreen should be used along with this cleanser

'eggquisite' skin...sounds cute and edible ^^

Would i repurchase? i would get the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash, but for the Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion, i'll put it on hold for now because i've got my eyes set on their whitening care line.
price-wise, the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash is actually pretty affordable at SGD13.90? The Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion costs around SGD22.90, a little more than their SHA Hydrating Lotion, but one drop is usually all i need for my face, so a little goes a long way i guess.

Hope this post helps and thanks for reading!!

Facial Cleansers in my bathroom now~

I have been using these cleansers for the past one year (at least for some), decided to do a review on them today ^^....

Neaclear Liquid Oxygen Acne Wash (177ml)

The Neaclear Liquid Oxygen Acne Wash is targeted for oily & troubled skin, containing BHA (beta hydroxy acid) to cleanse your pores and remove excess dirt and oil as well as salicylic acid to condition your skin. It also contains aloe vera extracts to soothe as well as multiple essential vitamins for the skin...

'This new product is enhanced with Vitamins A & D (to replenish these nutrients which are lost to the harsh and sometimes toxic conditions we expose our skin to everyday), Vitamin C & E (two of the most effective anti-aging treatments for your skin) and Aloe Vera (to soothe your skin while you use). Vitamin A aids in cell function and keeps the skin healthy, clear and infection resistant. Vitamin D helps to protect the cellular membrane from free radical damage. Vitamin C inhibits sun damage caused by harmful UVA and UVB rays. Vitamin C is also photo-protective, especially when used in conjunction with a broad-based sun block. Vitamin E is considered to be the most important oil soluble vitamin and free radical scavenger. A moisturizing base of pure food-grade aloe vera assists in soothing irritated skin. '....taken from ulta.com

The Neaclear Liquid Oxygen Acne Wash cleanser is like a cheaper alternative to Dermalogica Ultracalm Cleanser (see below), it cleanses the skin without drying it out. Despite all the acids involved (salicylic acid and BHA) this cleanser is pretty mild, even though it is geared towards oily troubled skin, i would not be surprised if individuals with dry sensitive skin can use this as well. To make it even better, they claim that this cleanser is soap-free, oil-free, dye-free, fragrance-free and alcohol-free to treat the skin without irritating it or drying it out.

The Neaclear Liquid Oxygen Acne Wash is a mild cleanser, please do not use it to remove make-up, beacause...it will not.....Do use a make-up remover prior to using this cleanser  to avoid disappointment ^^.

Been using it for almost three years, i would really recommend this any skin type individuals. It helped me tide over my teen acne period ( i had a really really bad case..-.-"), and i'm still using it even after my face has cleared. I managed to escape from my teen acne with only few large pores and no acne scars!!  For those  that can get their hands on it (have people connections in USA?).... GET IT!! Because it is not easily available in Singapore, and the price tag is not heavy...at all....just USD8+!!

The FaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Foam : Acerola (170ml)

The Faceshop Herb Day Cleansing Foam is your average drugstore standard foam cleanser, there are many flavors to choose from and each provides different functions. I bought three tubes for SGD 15.50, Lemon for sebum control, Acerola for whitening, Aloe Vera for hydration. Quite a buy actually, just SGD5.20 for a tube of 170ml, each tube lasted me a month. However, for such a price tag, don't expect any miracle from these tubes, i highly doubt that any of those functions would be significant (don't really see much whitening or fell much hydration). This cleanser would be great if your're on a budget, looking for something that have a fruity floral scent, foams and cleans your skin with a squeaky after-feeling.

Would i repurchase it? Maybe not? unless i'm out of cleanser and on a budget.

Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser for Face & Eyes (500ml)

The Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser is a gel-cream textured cleanser, with no artificial fragrance or color. It is designed for environmentally-sensitized skin, individuals with sensitive skin can consider using this ^^. Containing lavender, echinacea and raspberry extracts for their calming properties, it claims to combat skin sensitivity caused by exposure to harsh climates, stress, cosmetic products, hormonal imbalance and other environmental influences. Due to its mild cleansing nature, leaving no irritating residues, you can even remove it using dry cotton pads.

I usually use this after a make-up removing cleanser or harsher cleanser like Herb Day Cleansing Foam to avoid that 'skin-tightening' feeling or whenever i had a sunburn or before my period when my skin gets really irritable. FYI, this cleanser does not foam and after rinsing, there isn't that clean squeaky feeling, suitable for people who avoids foam cleansers. I would really recommend this cleanser as a second-step cleanser...lols....This cleanser is really like a mini all-cure, suitable for all types of skin, given that it also cares for hormonal imbalance and stress!!

Since this is a gentle cleanser, do not use it as a make-up remover because it will leave traces of make-up, but i would recommend using this after your make-up remover cleanser to soothe your skin after the influence of cosmetic products and harsh cleanser.

Price-wise.... i'm not going to blatantly say that this cleanser is a budget buy, it'll cost at least SGD110+ from Dermalogica Counter in Singapore or you can get it at SGD78 from here. I got mine from a relative in USA, so slightly cheaper ^^. But one 500ml can last me around half a year, so it's actually just SGD12+ per month for a really usable cleanser!!

Sorry about the long post, but i hope it helps and thanks for reading ^^
